Conference 2017 

  • The fifth biennial conference of the Society for the Medieval Mediterranean took place at the University of Ghent from Monday 10th July to Wednesday 12th July 2017.
    The theme of the conference was “Emotions, Imagination, and Community in the Medieval Mediterranean” and the keynotes were delivered by Prof. Nikolas Jaspert (Universität Heidelberg: "Mobility, Mediation, & Transculturation in the Medieval Mediterranean") and Prof. Marina Rustow (Princeton University: “Cairo Geniza & the Middle East's Archive Problem”).

Conference information

We host a biennial conference which brings together scholars from a range of disciplines to present and discuss their work, thus providing a forum for the exchange of ideas on the Medieval Mediterranean. Our next conference will be held in July 2019.
